Zoos, Aquariums, Nature Centers, Parks and other Conservation Institutions are invited play an important role in Zam’s Quest.  As a Conservation Partner, your institution is positioned as the local expert about a local conservation issue that you care about.  Students from schools in your area will take on your local conservation issue (which will be highlighted on this website) learn about your institution’s role and possibly take conservation action.  You have an opportunity to work with teachers and schools to make their Zam’s Quest experience more exciting and educational. 

 

Why Become a Conservation Partner?

  1. Partnership with a consortium of Zam’s Quest organizations.
  2. Contact with a large group of teachers in your area. Ability to collect contact information and build relationships with teachers that may not visit on their own.
  3. Opportunity to build simple programming around the Zam’s Quest curriculum for an already recruited and registered audience. 
  4. Free marketing on Zamsquest.com, an innovative and exciting website that supports the Zam’s Quest curriculum (see Unit 4 part of Kid's Place to see examples.) 
  5. A opportunity to earn income from teacher training sessions. 
  6. Public Relations stories that connect your institution with students learning how to solve conservation issues across the country. 
  7. A body of kids, teachers and parents that can be recruited to help with conservation initiatives that your institution is involved with i.e. beach cleanups, seagrass plantings, watershed awareness events etc.
  8. The opportunity to be a leader in a national sustainability initiative to teach America’s students how to engage in the conservation dialog. 

 

How do partners participate?

1.   Identify local issues in your local community that teachers and students can study in Unit 4 of the Zam’s Quest Curriculum. 

2.   Participate in a 2-3 hour live, on-line training to learn about Zam’s Quest and how to train teachers.  You will become proficient in the program and will be able to train and support teachers throughout the life of the project.

3.   Market Zam’s Quest to teachers on your mailing lists.  Here is an opportunity to provide another quality program to your valued teachers. (Teachers will also come to you through other national marketing done by Zam's Quest.)

4.   Provide a 3 hour teacher training class to teachers introducing them to the program and role play teaching techniques. Teacher training materials are provided.

5.   Provide access to staff experts based on local issues you have identified.  You can choose how to best use your experts, from a simple Q & A that gets posted on www.ZamsQuest.com to special fee based programming that you plan showcasing your local issues and experts.
