Maryland Bog Turtles, by Abbi

Project Image
This is someone holding a Bog Turtle.
Maryland's Bog Turtle is an endangered species. They are very rare. You can't find it in the rainforest, only in Northern Maryland in the wetlands and fresh water. They are dieing out because people are building on the marshes where the bog turtles live. Bog turtles are 1 inch at birth. They grow up to be about four inches and weigh about 5 ounces. They are fast turtles. Since the bog turtle is threatened, landowners are being asked to preserve wetlands. So help save the Bog Turtles.
